World Recycling Day (11/15/21)

The West Seneca Environmental Commission and West Seneca Youth & Recreation Department have teamed up to bring you World Recycling Day activities!

When and What is National Recycling Day?
I hope you’re ready to recycle because November 15 is National Recycling Day and we’re making sure nothing gets turned into waste. According to “National Geographic,” Americans send 64 tons of waste to landfills during their lifetime. That’s 246 million tons of waste each year. National Recycling Day aims to encourage Americans to purchase recycled products and recycle more.

How can you Recycle?
First, let's start with a visit from our friends at Kids Academy.
With your parents or guardians head over to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jQ7y_qQYUA

Discuss with your parent/guardian/household:
What is one item your family can RECYCLE to reduce your impact on the environment?
What is one item you cannot RECYCLE?

Fun Indoor Activities at Home:
Find an old cereal or cracker box, cut it into 3-10 various shapes. Now you have a puzzle made out of recycling materials. After you finish the puzzle, place it in your recycling bin or pass it along to another family member!

Fun Outdoor Earth Day Activity:
Head outside to your front or backyard, wear garden gloves and with your household pick up any trash that you see. Dispose of it properly. You helped clean up Mother Earth today! Do NOT pick up any sharp objects and tell an adult where they are.
